Y’SERP Chrome extension privacy policy

🇫🇷 Version française

Last updated: 15 September 2026.

Y’SERP (Y’a pas de quoi) is a Chrome extension for SEO professionals. It adds URL parameters to Google searches and reads the displayed results page to annotate and analyse it. It is published by Aymeric Bouillat, SEO consultant (yapasdequoi.com). It is not affiliated with Google.

In short

  • The extension collects no personal data.
  • No data leaves your browser: the extension has no server and sends nothing to the publisher or to third parties.
  • It contains no advertising, no analytics tracking and no affiliate links.

Data processed and where it is stored

All the data below stays in your Chrome browser, on your device or in your Google account through Chrome sync when it is turned on.

  • Your settings (enabled URL parameters, display options, profiles, interface language): stored in the extension storage synced by Chrome (chrome.storage.sync). They follow your Google account from one device to another if you have enabled extension sync in Chrome.
  • Google results pages: when you open a google.<domain>/search page, the extension reads the content of that page (results, blocks, ads, questions, query) to display it in its window and annotate it. This reading happens only in the open page and is not transmitted.
  • Saved SERPs and CSV batch: if you use « Save this SERP » or « Add to batch », the list of results (positions, URLs, titles, query, parameters, date) is stored in the extension’s local storage (chrome.storage.local), on your device only, up to 50 SERPs. You can delete each saved SERP and clear the batch from the Tools tab.
  • Exports: CSV files and screenshots are generated locally and saved to your downloads folder at your request.

Ranking pages analysis (on request). When you click « Analyse the pages » in the Analysis tab, the extension asks Chrome for site access, then downloads the pages listed in the results page directly from their servers, as if you opened them, without cookies unless you tick the option. It extracts measurements (tags, word count, schema, hreflang…) kept 24 hours in the extension’s local storage; the page content is not kept. Nothing is sent to a third party. You can revoke this access at any time from chrome://extensions.

Analysis of the ads’ landing pages (on request). Same mechanism from the SEA tab: the ads’ final URLs are downloaded without advertising tracking parameters (gclid and the like) and without cookies; Google click links are never called. The measurements (HTTP status, tags, conversion elements, tags present in the code) are kept locally for 24 hours; page content is not kept.

SEA log (option off by default). If you enable « SEA log », the ads and the top ten organic domains of each results page you open are recorded in the extension’s local storage (500 entries at most, cleared in one click). Nothing is sent to a third party and the extension never opens a page by itself.

What the extension does not do

  • It does not transmit any data to the publisher, to Google or to a third party.
  • It does not read your browsing history and only acts on Google results pages.
  • It does not read your credentials, passwords or form contents.
  • It shows no advertising and does not alter the links of the page (no affiliate links).

Permissions requested and why

  • Read and change your data on google.* sites: required to add the parameters to the search URL and to annotate the results page. The extension is only active on https://www.google.<domain>/search addresses.
  • Storage: to keep your settings and saved SERPs.
  • Active tab (activeTab): for the screenshot of the results page, only when you click « Capture the SERP as an image ».

Data deletion

Uninstalling the extension deletes its local data. Synced settings are removed from your Google account by Chrome according to its own sync rules. You can also clear saved SERPs and the batch at any time from the Tools tab.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page with its update date.
