Y’SERP Chrome extension privacy policy

🇫🇷 Version française

Last updated: 6 October 2026 (extension version 1.24.6).

Y’SERP (Y’a pas de quoi) is a Chrome extension for SEO professionals. It adds URL parameters to Google searches, reads the displayed results page to annotate and analyse it, and keeps a local log of the results pages you open. It is published by Aymeric Bouillat, SEO consultant (yapasdequoi.com). It is not affiliated with Google.

In short

  • The extension collects no personal data.
  • No data leaves your browser: the extension has no server and sends nothing to the publisher or to third parties. The SERP log and the page analyses run on your computer only.
  • It contains no advertising, no analytics tracking and no affiliate links.
  • It never opens a page or runs a search by itself: it only reads the pages you open.
  • On installation it opens a welcome page on yapasdequoi.com: an ordinary visit to the site, with no identifier and no data sent by the extension (since version 1.16.0).

Data processed and where it is stored

All the data below stays in your Chrome browser, on your device or in your Google account through Chrome sync when it is turned on.

  • Your settings (enabled URL parameters, display options, followed domains, profiles, interface language): stored in the extension storage synced by Chrome (chrome.storage.sync). They follow your Google account from one device to another if you have enabled extension sync in Chrome.
  • Google results pages: when you open a www.google.com/search page, the extension reads the content of that page (results, blocks, ads, questions, AI Overview, query) to display it in its window and annotate it. This reading happens only in the open page and is not transmitted. The extension’s scripts only run on https://www.google.com/search pages; they are not loaded on other Google pages nor on other websites.
  • SERP log: a results page is recorded in the log when one of the domains you typed in “Domain highlighting” (Display tab) appears in it, then at each of its visits; if you turn on the “SERP log” switch (Tools tab), every results page you open is recorded under the journal name you choose. With no followed domain and the switch off, nothing is recorded. Each entry holds the query, the date, the parameters, the top ten results (position, domain, URL, title), the ads and Shopping tiles, the position of your domains, the AI Overview sources (host, URL) and the zones of the page. The log is kept in the extension’s local storage (chrome.storage.local), 500 entries at most (the oldest are dropped), and is cleared in one click from the Tools tab. “Save the log” writes a JSON file to your downloads folder; “Restore a log” reads a file you pick on your device. Nothing is sent to a third party.
  • Saved SERPs and CSV batch: if you use “Save this SERP” or “Add to batch”, the list of results (positions, URLs, titles, ads, zones, query, parameters, date) is stored in the extension’s local storage, on your device only, up to 50 saved SERPs and 20,000 batch rows. You can delete each saved SERP and clear the batch from the Tools tab.
  • Display in the page: the position of the AI Overview sources card and the folded or unfolded state of the zones panel are kept in the extension’s local storage.
  • Exports: CSV files, screenshots and the JSON backup of the log are generated locally and saved to your downloads folder, at your request.

Page analyses, on your request only

Three buttons download web pages to measure them. At the first click, the extension asks Chrome for access to the sites involved; this access is used only to download those pages and can be revoked at any time from chrome://extensions. The pages are downloaded directly from their servers, as if you opened them, without cookies unless you tick the option. Only measurements are kept, for 24 hours, in the extension’s local storage; the page content is not kept and nothing is sent to a third party. To read the downloaded HTML, the extension uses a Chrome offscreen document that has no network access.

  • Analyse the pages (SERP tab): the organic results’ pages; measurements: title, H1, meta description, structured data, hreflang, canonical, noindex, word count.
  • Analyse the sources (AI Overview tab): the pages cited by the AI Overview that are not in the top ten results; same measurements, plus the publication date.
  • Analyse landing pages (Ads tab): the ads’ final URLs, downloaded without advertising tracking parameters (gclid and the like); Google click links are never called. Measurements: HTTP status, redirects, tags, conversion elements, tags present in the code.

What the extension does not do

  • It does not transmit any data to the publisher, to Google or to a third party.
  • It does not read your browsing history and only acts on Google results pages.
  • It does not read your credentials, passwords or form contents.
  • It shows no advertising and does not alter the links of the page (no affiliate links).
  • It never opens a page or runs a search by itself, including for the log.

Permissions requested and why

  • Read and change your data on www.google.com: required to add the parameters to the search URL and to annotate the results page. The extension is only active on https://www.google.com/search addresses.
  • Storage (storage): to keep your settings, the log, the saved SERPs and the batch.
  • Active tab (activeTab): for the screenshot of the results page, only when you click “Capture the SERP as an image”.
  • Offscreen document (offscreen): to read the HTML of the downloaded pages during analyses, in a document with no network access.
  • Site access, optional: requested only at the first click on “Analyse the pages”, “Analyse the sources” or “Analyse landing pages”, to download those pages; never requested for anything else, revocable at any time.

Data deletion

Uninstalling the extension deletes its local data. Synced settings are removed from your Google account by Chrome according to its own sync rules. From the Tools tab you can at any time clear the log, delete the saved SERPs and clear the batch; the measurements of analysed pages expire by themselves after 24 hours.
